Team year 5 departed school with smiles and excitement for the challenges that lay ahead. First up was a visit to the British motor museum. The boys had 3 workshops that looked at various aspects of motoring advancements, the favourite by far was the boys channelling their inner Lewis Hamilton by changing tyres at speed and driving around a track. After the checkered flag had come down, team year 5 departed and arrived safely at their lodgings for the week, on the menu was lasagne and orienteering. #andtheyreoff
Today the boys visited 2 historic venues that shaped and grew the British empire. At both venues they had to use their creative skills, Jackfield tile museum they used their designs from art lessons to create a decorative tile and Coalport china museum they sculpted a clay landscape plaque using pictures brought in from home. There were many outstanding pieces created throughout the day and the boys cannot wait to see the end results. The day was finished off with a warning roast dinner, hot coco, popcorn and a movie night. #thinkingoutsidethebox
Day 03 – Day 3 was all about looking at what the Victorians did for us. It turns out they did an awful lot for the development of the modern world. The boys discovered this through looking, playing and exploring their way through inventions at the Coalbrookdale museum. This was followed up with a peaceful walk to one of the jewels in the English heritage crown, The Ironbridge. The walk took in how, why and who made the bridge, it was an eye-opening experience. The evening was finished off with some group work and had to design their own bridges. It is safe to say the Ironbridge was a lot sturdier and lasted a lot longer! #buildingbridges
Day 04 – The boys jumped back in time today to the late 19th century. The day was jam packed with Victorian experiences; making bricks, fairground rides, banking, a school day and buying things using old money. It was an amazing day, and everyone bought into the experience which made it a day the boys will not forget. #timehop
