Year 4 Drama and Music Extravanganza

Posted: 11th March 2022

On Wednesday, in a new Lent term performance initiative for Year 4, the music and drama departments combined forces to produce a feast of music and poetry for parents.

The performance opened with Year 4’s rendition of Michael Hurd’s Jonah Man Jazz. The boys delighted the audience with their lovely singing, dancing and enactment of the story, capturing the spirit and style of the music to great effect. Year 4 were lucky enough to be accompanied by a live band of professional musicians including Janet Newman, Timothy Henty, Karen Brewster and Tom Kearsey – it was a joy to be performing live to the parents at last!

The boys then presented a collection of classic and contemporary poetry ranging from Rudyard Kipling’s, ‘If’ and ‘The Charge of the Light Brigade’ by Alfred Lord Tennyson to an enthusiastic interpretation of ‘Gran, can you rap, can you Gran?’ to a captivated audience. It was wonderful to see all the boys performing so confidentially, with good articulation and expression. Well done, boys!
