The Year 6 boys presented a fabulous version of Alan Parker’s quirky 1976 mobster musical set-in mythical prohibition America in the 1920s. The story features freewheeling hero Bugsy Malone who finds himself caught in the middle of a gang war between Fat Sam and Dandy Dan.
Cast members wowed the audience with their impressive acting skills and catchy musical songs as they danced around the set. The gold swags perfectly illuminated Fat Sam’s Grand Slam’s orchestra and bar area which tucked neatly into the New York skyline back cloth and Dock 17 and the Hung Foo Shin Laundry.
Professional ‘Splurge’ guns were used by the ‘gangs’ throughout the play, much to the surprise and amusement of the audience. Razzamatazz and the Bugsy Band beautifully segued between each scene which ended with the whole cast joining together for a memorable rendition of ‘You Give a Little Love’.
A truly impressive performance by all members of the cast, and a great finale to their time at RGS Prep. We wish them the very best of luck as they move onto their senior schools in September.
