Ways to donate

The support and engagement of all our community is central to the role the RGS can play in transforming the lives of young bright local boys. Thank you to those that have already donated to the campaign; all funds raised support the education of RGS boys who would otherwise not be able to attend the school.

Friend of the RGS

Our campaign is based on regular giving from Friends of the RGS. Committed pledges are vital for bursaries; with income we can rely on each year, we can commit to supporting boys throughout their RGS education. It means we can use the funds we have for the boys who need it. Without committed regular support, we are faced with having to turn boys away whilst holding significant funds in reserve.

To help us create a sustainable plan for the future with regular support, you can set up your Direct Debit here.

Class of

In 2017 we launched our ‘£7 for Seven’ initiative which gives parents of the graduating year the chance to support us as a year group. It is a way for the families of each graduating year group to support us and hold open the door for another RGS boy, through the creation of a new bursary named for their class. It’s simple – a gift of just £7 a month for seven years. In seven years’ time, we ask the boys of that class to take over their family gifts from their parents to enable their Class of… Bursary to help another bright local boy.

Giving Day

Every October we host a digital Giving Day that brings together our entire community. Over a 28-hour period, we invite current pupils, parents and staff and those that left the RGS Guildford some years ago to support us in raising funds and awareness of the Bursary Campaign. We look forward to seeing you online on 14/15 October 2021.

The Beckingham Society

Our Enduring Bursary Fund is an endowment-style fund, created specifically to build capital in order to endow bursaries in perpetuity. One-off gifts of any and every size are welcome, as are legacies and in memoriam gifts. Legacy pledgers are also invited to join our Beckingham Legacy Society, named in honour of our Founder.

One off gifts

Our campaign also includes three additional giving opportunities:

1509 Circle

Named for the year RGS was founded, this giving circle is a form of fellowship giving, with supporters gifting £1509 per annum.

Awarded to any individual, family, group or company who fund one third of a bursary or more.

King’s Benefactor:

In recognition of an individual, family, group or company who sponsor a bright, local boy through his whole RGS education.

All UK taxpayers can increase their gift by 25% at no extra cost though the government’s Gift Aid Scheme. In this way a gift of £1509 is worth £1886 to the RGS. In addition, higher and top rate taxpayers may claim their own tax relief (20% and 25% respectively) on their total gift, including the Gift Aid.

If you would like to find out more about any of our campaign giving opportunities or explore a different way of supporting, please contact Monica Popa, Development Director.
