Fourth and Fifth Form GCSE Drama students attended a devising workshop with students from Tormead School. The session was run by an innovative theatre company called The Paper Birds who devise work inspired by social or broadly political issues and use unusual and original techniques to create exciting, thought-provoking plays. The students learnt how to (respectfully) include verbatim in their devising and also ways to physically communicate complex ideas, including one exercise involving speaking lines whilst negotiating a human obstacle course! The workshop was designed to kick-start the creative process for the Fifth Form who, as part of their GCSE, must devise, rehearse and perform a piece in the term ahead.
