The 2025 Summer Art Exhibition at the Royal Grammar School was a vibrant showcase of student creativity, drawing a large and enthusiastic crowd of current families, alumni, and staff. Held in the Rozier Studio, the event featured an impressive array of artwork from students across the year groups, with each piece carefully mounted, framed, and displayed to suitably showcase this diverse and impressive collection.
Transforming ideas into intricate installations
The highlight of the exhibition was the work of three Sixth Form artists, who transformed the studio space with their distinctive specialisms. Filip S’s intricate and highly detailed technical drawings captivated viewers with their precision and depth. Archie S’s dramatic installation, featuring a feather-clad sculpture suspended in mid-air, added a bold and immersive element to the show. Ethan D, alongside Filip, is set to pursue Architecture at Sheffield University this autumn, following in the footsteps of OG24 Harris MacNicol, who was also in attendance to support the next generation of talent.
Diverse range of interpretive art showcasing individual styles
GCSE students presented a diverse range of interpretations on set themes, showcasing their individuality through chosen materials and techniques. Notable pieces included Fin S’s giant wicker tree, ceramic structures by Victor D and James B, and delicate prisma pencil drawings by Stirling G, Harry G, and Tris L. Andrew K’s expressive paintings and detailed sketchbooks stood out as a highlight, marking him as a promising artist to watch as he progresses to A Level.
Younger students also made a strong impression. Third and First Form ceramics, including Ali W’s animal project and Farida K E’s seed pod designs, were admired for their creativity and craftsmanship. The First Form’s aboriginal gecko ceramics, fresh from the kiln, added a colourful and cultural touch to the exhibition.
The event was a true celebration of artistic talent and dedication across all year groups. Our congratulations to all involved.
