Rugby Highlights

1st XV
A thrilling season opener saw the 1st XV narrowly lose 24–23 to Judd after a last-minute penalty. Standout performances came from James B., Hugo T. and Ollie C., with nine players making their debuts.

2nd XV
A dominant display from the 2nd XV, who combined forward power and backline pace to secure a convincing win. Henry G. was named player of the match.

U16A
RGS raced to a 21–0 lead and held on to win 38–31. George M., Finn B., and Jamie N. led the attack, while Max B. and Arthur F. were key in defence.

U16B
Despite a slow start, a strong second half led by Eddie H. and Will R. brought RGS close, but they fell just short of a comeback.

U15A
After falling behind, the team showed resilience to score 12 unanswered points late in the game. Tries from Harry R., Matt B. and Oscar N. highlighted the fightback.

U15B
A commanding win built on strong defence and smart play. Leo S., George T. and Oscar D. were standout contributors.

U14A & U14B
Both teams showed promise despite tough matches. Mobi A., Rhys J. and Rufus B. impressed for the A team, while the B team improved significantly in the second half.

U13A & U13B
The U13A team recovered from a slow start to score several tries, with Emile T. bagging two. The U13Bs were narrowly beaten in a high-scoring contest, with Huxley T. earning man of the match.

First Form House Rugby
Over 100 new students took part in the First Form House Rugby competition, marking a strong start to their RGS sporting journey.

Football Highlights

1st XI vs Bedales
Despite being 0–2 down within 7 minutes, RGS bounced back with goals from Ollie A. (2), Ted E-D., and Fi A. to win 4–3. A gritty comeback and a strong start to the 2025/26 campaign.

Shooting Highlights

Schools’ Meet & Imperial Competitions
The RGS shooting team had a hugely successful summer, winning multiple trophies and individual awards

Notable Placings
Ayaan B., Oscar E., Luke E., and Stirling G. placed in multiple events including Iveagh, Wellington and Victoria competitions.

Imperial Success
10 RGS boys competed, with standout performances from:

  • Josh M. – 10 prizes
  • James N. – 6 prizes
  • Shreyas P. – 5 prizes
  • Ayaan B. – Multiple medals, including bronze bars, a St George’s badge, a silver tankard and a £20 prize for top Tyro in the Times competition

Cross-Country Highlights

Stoke Park Trials
Despite poor weather, a large turnout of students completed the 2.2k course. Edward R. was first across the line. The event showed strong early-season promise and enthusiasm.
