Teacher Training

We work closely with South Farnham SCITT, an Ofsted Outstanding provider of School Centered Initial Teacher Training (SCITT).

How do I gain Qualified Teacher Status?

There are two main pathways to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You can become a student and sign up to Initial Teacher Training (ITT) or you can be employed and apply for the Assessment Only (AO) route after gaining two years of teaching experience. The main characteristics of each pathway are summarised below:

  • Weekly professional study sessions with South Farnham SCITT
  • Option to achieve PGCE alongside QTS
  • Eligible to apply for a tuition fee loan and maintenance loan
  • Tax-free government bursary of £5K to £29K for eligible subjects

Assessment Only (AO)

  • Employed status as an Unqualified Teacher with annual salary
  • Achieve Qualified Teacher Status after two years of teaching
  • Flexible start date
  • Assessment lasts up to 12 weeks and costs £3,000 with South Farnham SCITT
