On Tuesday 20 February, we welcomed Steve Wardlaw OG 1987 back to the RGS for a talk in assembly to celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month. He spoke honestly and naturally about his positive experience as an RGS student, life in the ‘80s as a lawyer and activist (the AIDS crisis, Section 28 and more) and his time in Moscow where he tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to organise a Pride Rally. He set up and now runs Emerald Life, an insurance company for disadvantaged people from all walks of life. Steve spoke candidly and clearly about finding, acknowledging, and celebrating difference in oneself and others.
Thank you to Steve for taking the time to share his experiences with our students and for his involvement in our Class of 1987 Bursary programme which is helping to fund a place for a student for his entire seven years at the School.
