Mr JC Witts

James has been a member of the RGS since 2009, following his training at two schools in Southampton.  A teacher of Geography who quickly found a passion for pastoral care and formative development through six years of tutoring in the Middle School where he developed an understanding of the needs and challenges faced by students in these formative years.  Empathy and understanding form the core of his approach to pastoral care, and since becoming Head of Middle School in 2017 he has worked to inculcate this approach within his pastoral team.

Outside the classroom, James enjoys sailing and skiing and has had the privilege of leading the school sailing team for over 15 years.  When he is not on the water he is found at home with his young family which has helped to bring a valuable perspective to pastoral care.
