1 The School has committed to sharing the impact of the addition of VAT to school fees.  Parents’ share of the VAT impact is being implemented by the addition of 3% in January 2025, and a further 3% in September 2025 and September 2026. This is in addition to the normal annual fee increases.

2 VAT is not applicable to school fees for Nursery (subject to specific requirements). The Surrey County Council Early Years Universal Childcare funding is available for all 3- and 4-year-olds and offsets 3 hours per day giving a total of 15 hours per week. For those eligible parents, the Working Parent’s Entitlement funding offsets a further 3 hours per day, increasing the total number of funded hours to 30 hours per week.

Prep Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pay for my School Fees with Childcare Vouchers?

We can accept childcare vouchers for RGS Prep in Nursery and Reception (Shell) up to and including the term your child turns 5. Childcare vouchers can also be used to pay for Breakfast Club whilst at Prep throughout Nursery to Year 6. Please email rgs-billing@rgsg.co.uk with the details of your childcare provider, your child’s name and any reference and the amount of payment expected so payments received can be allocated to your billing account.

Can I pay for my Fees through the Government Tax Free Childcare Account?

We can accept payment via your Government tax free childcare account for RGS Prep in Nursery and Reception (Shell) up to and including the term your child turns 5. Tax free childcare can also be used to pay for Breakfast Club whilst at Prep throughout Nursery to Year 6. Please email rgs-billing@rgsg.co.uk with your Government Childcare Account reference number so payments received can be allocated to your billing account.

What Funded Early Education for 3 and 4 year olds do you offer?

All 3 to 4 year olds are eligible for 15 hours a week of free childcare (Universal Funding) which is credited to your school bill. To receive the funding parents must complete the Surrey County Council Declaration Form, when sent by Pre-Prep, and return the form by the given deadline to Pre-Prep Reception, along with your child’s proof of date of birth (e.g. birth certificate/passport).

Some parents may also be eligible for Working Parent Entitlement. This is an extra 15 hours a week on top of your 15 hours a week Universal Funding. For further information please email rgs-billing@rgsg.co.uk

What is the Prep Compulsory Extra-Curricular Charge?

The Prep Compulsory Extra-Curricular Charge includes a range of activities, workshops, trips and Activities Week that the pupils take part in throughout the school year.  The cost of this compulsory Extra-Curricular activities is divided equally over the three terms of the academic year and added to your termly bill.

 

Can I cancel lunches?

We provide school lunches that are balanced and nutritious, and cater for allergies and dietary preferences. Lunches at RGS Prep are compulsory for all year groups.

If my child is offered a place at RGS senior school, and I have previously paid the Prep school deposit, do I have to pay the full RGS senior deposit?

No. The balance of the acceptance deposit will be calculated as the difference between the RGS Guildford acceptance deposit and the deposit paid by RGS parents when your child joined RGS Prep.

How do I cancel lunches?

If you would like to cancel school lunches, please email your request to cancel to  rgs-billing@rgsg.co.uk giving your child’s name.  A term’s notice is required to cancel lunches.  (Lunches are compulsory for First and Second Forms).

 

Is there a discount for lunch for those taking GCSEs and A Levels?

The lunch fee for those taking GCSEs and A Levels in the Trinity term is reduced by 50%.

How do I cancel the Extra Curricular Foreign Language Lessons?

If you would like to cancel extra curricular foreign language please email your request to cancel to ecl@rgsg.co.uk  giving your child’s name and the language being studied.   A term’s notice is required.

Other Charges

We run a range of activities and trips for pupils, some of which are compulsory (e.g. Prep School Activities Week).  Individual music tuition is also provided at an extra charge.

Additional Information Regarding Fees

  • School fees are reviewed annually and notice of the fees for the following academic year are advised at the end of the Lent Term.
  • Fees are payable in advance, on, or before, the first day of term. Any fees paid after the first day of term will be subject to late charges.
  • Fees include the cost of most stationery and textbooks, games and school societies, but exclude a small number of items, for example public examination and UCAS entry fees.
  • There are no sibling discounts.
  • The acceptance of a place is subject to the School’s Terms and Conditions, returning the signed Acceptance Form and paying the Acceptance Deposit, which equates to 25% of the first term’s fees.  The deposit is non-refundable until the pupil leaves the School, unless the offer of a place is withdrawn by the Governors in which case it will be refunded in full.  Should the pupil not take up the place offered for any other reason, the Acceptance Deposit will be forfeited.
  • Should you wish to cancel your contract after accepting a place please read and complete this form  Cancellation notice and form
  • A full term’s notice in writing is required before the removal or withdrawal of a pupil prior to starting at the RGS, otherwise a full term’s fees will be payable.
