Assistant Head (Co-curricular)

Steve joined the Geography Department in 2001, teaching across all year groups for nearly two decades. During this time, he developed a particular interest in Geographical Information Systems and established a reputation for bringing innovative, real‑world applications of geography into the classroom.

A strong advocate for character development and a holistic approach to education, Steve has played a central role in shaping the school’s Co‑Curricular programme throughout his career. His contributions have been especially influential in the area of outdoor education. He expanded the sailing programme into the Middle School games curriculum, introduced the Royal Naval section to the Combined Cadet Force, and oversaw the development of the school’s ski race training programme. He also founded the Third Form Expedition and Adventure (EXAD) programme, designed to build resilience, teamwork, and a sense of adventure in younger students.

Alongside his work within the School, Steve also gives significant time to national school sport. He volunteers as a board member of the English Schools’ Ski Association, helping to guide the strategic development of competitive school skiing in the UK. In this capacity, he organises squad race training in Norway for boys and girls from schools across the country, providing opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills in a high‑performance alpine environment.
