Junior Piano Concert

Posted: 18th November 2022

After an exhausting day of competitions for the House Piano events, many of the junior pianists came back to school to play in the Junior Concert, held annually every November. A full Recital Room of appreciative parents came to support the boys, and they were treated to a concert filled with performances ranging in style from Bach to the very contemporary!

Despite what must have been a tiring day for many of the boys, they presented themselves and their pieces with seriousness and care, and there were some truly outstanding performances to be enjoyed. A special mention must go to Nilay Sagoo, whose realisation of the E minor Chopin Nocturne showed real talent and musicianship, played as it was with a beautiful control over the tone and shaping. This is a young pianist with real talent and one to watch for the future. But the same could also be said for Nicholas Wang, Julian Zou, Freddy Masefield and many other players as they each brought their own personality to their performances and showed what enormous hard work and commitment had been dedicated to their preparation.

Well done to all who took part; it would be much easier for the players to say no and have an easy life, but boys at the RGS are made of special stuff!
